Eye Dominance and Putting Alignment- Learn how to line up to putts!
PGA instructor Cindy Miller explains how eye dominance impacts putting setup and sightlines. She demonstrates how to identify your dominant eye and adjust your stance—backing away from the ball and opening your stance if you are right-eye dominant—to properly see the target line.
Test for eye dominance by forming a hand triangle in front of a mirror.
If you are right-handed and right-eye dominant, standing directly over the ball can block your dominant eye's view of the line.
Back away from the ball so your eyes are slightly inside the target line and open your stance to improve line sight.
Left-eye dominant right-handed golfers can naturally position their eyes closer to over the ball because their lead eye sees the target clearly.
