Use This Incredible Drill To Hit Every Club Longer
PGA instructor Danny Maude demonstrates how to master the trail arm to achieve incredible distance and consistent ball striking. By using a tricep-pinning drill and a split-hand exercise, golfers learn to fold the arm vertically and use body rotation to create a powerful, repeatable arc.
The trail arm should stay in front of the body throughout the swing to maintain a consistent arc.
At setup, turn the trail arm so the elbow points downward (the 'giving blood' position) to keep it tucked.
The trail arm moves primarily vertically (up and down); the body's rotation is what makes the swing look circular.
The Split Hand Drill helps golfers feel the sensation of firing the club down in front of the trail leg to avoid 'flicking'.
If flexibility is limited, use the wrists to pitch the club behind the hands rather than forcing the elbow into an uncomfortable position.
