Whenever I Struggle To Hit Driver Straight, I Remember To Do This
PGA instructor Danny Maude explains how to eliminate driver slices and hooks by mastering the clubface-to-path relationship. By adjusting clubface angle and forearm alignment at setup, golfers can naturally generate a draw or fade path. Maude also uses HackMotion wrist sensors to demonstrate how maintaining proper wrist conditions during the backswing prevents the clubface from opening prior to impact.
Ball curvature (slices and hooks) is dictated by the offset between clubface angle and swing path direction.
Preset a draw at setup by rotating the clubface slightly closed (11:00 position) and re-squaring the face by raising the lead arm and tucking the trail elbow.
Reverse the setup adjustment (opening the face to 1:00 or 2:00 position) if you suffer from severe hooks.
Monitor backswing wrist mechanics to ensure you do not inadvertently open the clubface before initiating the downswing.
