Hit Irons That STICK… And Drives That ROLL FOREVER
Craig Jones from Face First Golf explains how to hit down on irons and up on driver using the swing clock concept. He demonstrates how adjusting ball position and weight distribution automatically achieves the proper attack angle for crisp iron compression and low-spin drives using a single swing technique.
Use the swing clock visual: strike irons at 7 o'clock (descending blow) and driver at 5 o'clock (ascending blow), with 6 o'clock as the swing arc low point.
For irons, position the ball dead center and keep 70% of your weight on your lead foot throughout the swing for ball-first contact.
For drivers, place the ball forward, set 60% weight on your trail foot, and bump your lead hip to create spine tilt away from the target.
Practice clipping a tee placed ahead of your stance center for 2–3 minutes daily to rewire impact instincts without needing a golf ball.
