PGA Professional Chris Dennis from Get Good At Golf explains how optimizing your trail (right) arm position at setup can fix poor contact and weak ball flights. By turning the inside of your right forearm toward the sky at address, you connect your arm to your torso, maintaining vital angles into impact. This technique promotes natural forward shaft lean, compresses the ball, and creates consistent divots.
Keep grip pressure relaxed at about 5 out of 10 to keep the arms loose and eliminate tension.
Rotate your trail forearm at setup so the inside of the arm faces upward, connecting your bicep softly to your chest.
Maintain trail arm connection throughout the backswing and downswing to prevent lifting the club early.
Ensure your right hand grips from underneath rather than coming over the top to avoid weak impact and topped shots.
