Cam from Golf At Why Not Go Pro demonstrates the High Side Drill, a specialized putting exercise designed to eliminate 'low side' misses on breaking putts. By setting up a tee gate system and a speed-control triangle behind the hole, golfers learn to visualize the high-side entry point and master the relationship between velocity and break.
Missing on the high side gives the ball a better chance to fall in, whereas low-side misses pull the ball away from the hole.
Set a 'low gate' of three tees just half an inch from the hole to define the absolute floor of your line.
Place a 'high gate' approximately one and a half cups wide to create a target entry zone.
Establish a distance boundary two feet behind the hole to ensure speed is sufficient to reach but not blow past the target.
Progressive practice: Aim for 5/5 at 10 feet, 3/5 at 15 feet, and 2/2 at 20 feet.
