LPGA professional Lisa DePaulo explains how to use the plumb bob technique with your putter shaft to read green breaks accurately. She demonstrates how to hold the putter vertically to evaluate sloped putts versus straight putts on the green.
Identify your dominant eye before attempting to plumb bob your putt.
Hold the top of your putter grip lightly between your thumb and index finger so the putter hangs completely vertical.
Stand behind the ball and line up the lower section of the shaft directly over the ball.
Observe where the upper shaft aligns relative to the cup: if the hole appears to one side of the shaft, the putt breaks in that direction.
