This Simple Driver Lesson Beats Hitting 10,000 Balls on the Range
Adam Porzak of Porzak Golf breaks down the driver swing into three essential phases: setup, backswing, and downswing. He details proper stance width, ball position, hip bump, and shoulder alignment to help golfers play underneath their body. By establishing square alignment and controlled hand path, golfers can eliminate slices and pull shots off the tee.
Set your stance width so the inside of your feet matches the outside of your shoulders, with the ball placed off the lead shoulder.
Perform a 1-inch targetward hip bump while keeping your sternum still to load pressure onto the inside of your trail leg.
Ensure shoulders are perfectly square at setup by matching your palms, allowing you to swing underneath your body rather than around it.
At the top of the backswing, match your lead wrist and arm plane to maintain a square clubface relative to your swing path.
In the downswing, keep your head behind the ball and feel the hands and arms move smoothly in front of body rotation without sliding laterally.
