How to Play Stableford: A Beginner's Guide (Society Day at South Winchester)

Wayne from Real Golf provides a comprehensive walkthrough of the Stableford scoring system during a society day at South Winchester Golf Club. The video explains how to apply a playing handicap to the course's Stroke Index, how to calculate nett scores into points, and the strategic importance of 'The Blob' for pace of play.

• A nett par is worth 2 points; a nett birdie is 3 points, and a nett bogey is 1 point.
• 36 points at the end of the round indicates that you have played exactly to your handicap.
• The Stroke Index (SI) on the scorecard tells you which holes you receive your handicap strokes on.
• Stableford encourages pace of play: if you can no longer score a point on a hole, you should pick up your ball (known as 'The Blob').
• Strategy shifts based on handicap; higher handicappers can still score well by making gross bogeys or doubles on their 'shot' holes.
