PGA instructor Adam Bazalgette explains the essential geometry and setup adjustments needed to hit a reliable fade with your irons. He details how to align your body left of the target while ensuring the clubface stays open to the swing path but closed to the target line for maximum control.
A fade occurs when the clubface is slightly open relative to the swing path at impact.
The ball starts approximately 75% where the clubface is aimed, not where the path is moving.
Align your body and swing path left of the target, but keep the clubface aimed between your path and the target.
Feel the handle and arms track around your body during the follow-through to maintain an open face and leftward path.
Avoid swinging 'outside-in' on an extreme plane; maintain your natural plane while adjusting alignment.
