Your Driver Swing is Probably Costing You 20+ Yards
In this video from The Art of Simple Golf, instructor Alex Fortey reveals how to unlock 20+ extra yards off the tee by fixing an early release. Using a clock face visualization and an alignment stick whoosh drill, Fortey demonstrates how to move maximum speed to just after impact at 5 o'clock. He also provides a takeaway tempo tip to prevent forced speed from the top of the swing.
Shift your maximum clubhead speed target to 5 o'clock on the clock face (just after impact) instead of casting early at 7 o'clock.
Use an alignment stick or upside-down driver to listen for where your swing whoosh sound peaks.
Avoid an excessively slow backswing, which often triggers a snatchy, unsequenced transition from the top.
A free-flowing, athletic takeaway creates naturally better timing for your lower body, torso, and wrist release.
