Jimmy Tropicana demonstrates the 'Top, Stop, and Go' drill, inspired by Freddy Couples, designed to fix swing timing and transition sequencing. Shot on-course at Bal Canyon, the video shows how pausing at the top of the backswing forces the body to lead the downswing. Jimmy also provides valuable tips for chipping with body rotation and managing fast downhill putts by striking them off the putter's toe.
Use the 'Top, Stop, and Go' drill to improve timing and ensure your body leads the downswing instead of your hands.
When chipping, maintain a 'V' shape with your arms and rotate your body to 'sheath the sword' in the follow-through.
On very fast downhill putts, hit the ball off the toe of the putter face to minimize energy transfer and control distance.
In putting, 'chase' the ball with the putter head to keep it on line longer and improve roll.
Practice the pause drill at home without a ball (100 times a day) to build muscle memory before taking it to the course.
