Golf instructor Jimmy Tropicana demonstrates a simple setup trick to instantly eliminate an over-the-top swing path and fix a slice. By pulling your trail foot back slightly at address, your lead shoulder naturally closes, allowing you to swing down your foot line and hit the inside of the golf ball. Jimmy takes this tip onto the course, demonstrating its effectiveness across irons, driver, and wedge play.
Drop your right (trail) foot back 1-2 inches at address to close your lead shoulder automatically.
Swing along your foot line to hit the inside quadrant of the golf ball and eliminate over-the-top slices.
This foot-line adjustment works across all full-swing clubs including drivers, fairway woods, and irons.
On fast downhill putts, pick a short 'finish line' target and strike the ball toward the toe of the putter to deaden energy.
