2/24 - Under or Over Plane? Get your club in the ‘Goldilocks Zone’
Warren Bennett of the Warren Bennett Golf Academy demonstrates how to find the 'Goldilocks Zone' or 'the slot' during the downswing. He provides distinct drills for both hookers and slicers, focusing on hand-path adjustments and the 'Drop Down Exercise' to ensure the club approaches the ball from the correct plane. The video emphasizes practicing at variable speeds to effectively layer new mechanical changes into the swing.
Hookers should feel their hands moving more 'out' and wide in the transition to avoid getting the club stuck behind them.
Slicers should feel their hands 'drop down' toward their trail foot (right shoe) to prevent an over-the-top move.
The 'slot' is a Goldilocks Zone that allows the golfer to release the club naturally rather than hanging on to it.
Use 'Speed Layering' (1/10 to 5/10 speed) to internalize new feels before moving to a full swing.
Keep the head still during the release to allow the arms and club to swing past the body effectively.
