‘LET IT GO’ - The Art of Releasing the Club into Impact
Warren Bennett explores 'The Art of Releasing' to help golfers stop holding onto the club and start squaring the face naturally. He demonstrates how to use an impact bag and hand-rotation exercises to create a 'snap' at impact for better compression and accuracy. By synchronizing a passive upper body with a trailing knee kick, golfers can achieve effortless speed and more consistent start lines.
The 'snap' release is created by rotating the lead hand (glove logo) toward the target just before impact.
Keep the head and shoulders passive while allowing the trail knee to kick in to create lateral movement without over-rotating the chest.
Holding onto the club too long causes blocks, while a properly timed release produces compression and natural speed.
Practice at 50-60% speed to 'educate' the hands before layering the feeling into a full-speed swing.
The ball's start line is the best feedback: if it pushes right, you need more hand rotation; if it hooks, you may be pulling your shoulders open.
