TWO Anti-Shank DRILLS you Need in Your Swing Locker.
PGA professional Warren Bennett demonstrates how to eliminate shanks by identifying the two root causes: the 'over-the-top' move and the 'inside-out tipping' move. He provides specific drills, including the Inside Tee Drill, to help golfers train their hands to stay closer to the body and find the sweet spot or toe of the club.
Identify if your shank is caused by an over-the-top slice path or an extreme inside-out path.
Use a tee placed inside the ball to provide immediate feedback; hitting the tee ensures the clubhead isn't moving too far away from you at impact.
Training yourself to hit the ball off the toe is a safe 'fail-safe' to rebuild confidence after hitting shanks.
For inside-out shanks, focus on 'completing the arc' by pulling the hands across the left foot post-impact to avoid the club pushing out too early.
Incorporate a natural weight shift toward the target to create room for the arms to drop down rather than out.
