You Don’t Have ONE CLUBFACE - YOU HAVE THREE / Learn to Control Your Release
Warren Bennett demonstrates how to master the golf release by adopting Lee Trevino's 'Three Clubfaces' philosophy, treating the hands as extensions of the clubhead. By adjusting the orientation of the right palm through the hitting zone—either rolling it down for a draw or holding it toward the target for a fade—golfers can gain total control over their ball flight. The lesson emphasizes 'pocket-to-pocket' practice swings to build muscle memory for a more compressed and consistent impact.
Think of your lead hand and trail hand as two additional clubfaces that should align with the actual clubhead.
To fix a slice and hit a draw, feel the right palm (for righties) 'roll' to look down and forward through impact.
For a controlled 'compression fade,' keep the right palm facing the target for as long as possible through the hitting zone.
Practice using 'pocket-to-pocket' swings (half swings) to isolate the feeling in the hands and wrists before attempting full speed.
Keep the head still and incorporate a 'knee kick' to provide a stable base while the hands work through the release.
