I Was Fixing My Golf Swing WRONG... Until I Learned This
PGA-certified instructor Alex Elliott explains how club path and face angle govern all nine fundamental golf ball flights. He demonstrates how to diagnose bad shots and provides setup adjustments to fix severe slices and hooks by learning to intentionally play draws and fades with irons and driver.
Club face angle accounts for 80% to 85% of the ball's initial start line, while swing path dictates the direction of the curve relative to the face.
Trying to hit a perfectly straight shot is rarely practical; learning to master shot shape through opposite spin is the fastest way to control your misses.
To turn a slice into a draw, move ball position slightly back, close your stance and body alignment to the right, press hands forward, and swing along your feet line.
To correct a hook with a fade, move the ball slightly forward in setup, open body alignment to the left, and maintain firm pinky grip pressure to stabilize face closure through impact.
