PGA instructor Alex Elliott breaks down simple address adjustments to fix weak, slicing iron shots and add distance to your 7-iron. By optimizing ball position relative to the lead armpit, closing the pelvis slightly, pressing the hands forward, and turning the lead elbow toward the target before taking a grip, golfers can hit longer, draw-biased iron shots without overhaul to their swing.
Place 7-iron ball position three golf ball widths behind your lead armpit for an in-to-out path.
Adjust ball position by a quarter ball width for each club longer or shorter than a 7-iron.
Scoot the middle of your pelvis slightly forward and closed relative to your target line at address.
Point your lead elbow toward the target BEFORE gripping the club to maximize forearm rotation through impact.
