Most Golfers Will NEVER Compress Their Irons Until They Fix THIS!
PGA instructor Giles Gill breaks down the essential factors needed to compress iron shots and eliminate weak slices. He demonstrates key setup adjustments—including sternum ball position, shaft lean, and clubface alignment—alongside two targeted alignment stick drills to establish an in-to-out path and clean impact.
Position the golf ball directly under your sternum to encourage a solid, down-and-through strike with an in-to-out path.
Adding forward shaft lean at setup naturally shifts your swing path to the right (in-to-out).
Toe the clubface in slightly before taking your grip, then drop your trail shoulder to align the face right of the target while keeping it closed relative to the path.
Use an alignment stick station angled parallel to your club shaft to train weight shift, chest extension, and an in-to-out swing plane.
