PGA-certified instructor Aimee Cho teaches two essential lob shot techniques for practical on-course situations: a low-risk high-spin chip and a high-floating flop shot. She breaks down clubface positioning, stance adjustments, and introduces a wrist-control drill to master the scooping technique safely.
For a low-risk spinning shot, open the face slightly to 12:30–1:00, grip down low, and widen your stance to support a larger swing.
For a high flop shot, open the face to 2:00, position the ball off the lead heel, and allow a controlled scooping wrist action.
Keep your body rotating through impact during a flop shot—stopping your body mid-swing results in skulling the ball.
Use the alternating Hook Chip and Scooping Chip drill to train wrist flexibility and clean bounce contact.
