Golf coach Kerrod Gray shares a key downswing transition feel to help golfers stop spinning open early and gain up to 20 yards off the tee. By shifting weight into the lead foot while keeping the back shoulder facing the target, the club drops naturally into the slot from the inside for powerful impact.
Shift your weight into your lead foot before initiating shoulder or hip rotation in the downswing.
Keep the back of your right shoulder facing the target as long as possible during transition.
Allow the club to drop into the slot from the inside to avoid coming over the top.
Avoid rushing the downswing with your upper body, which drains clubhead speed right before impact.
