Golf Drills - Point Toe Twards The Target With Mike Wydra
NCAA Hall of Fame coach Mike Wydra introduces the 'Toe Towards Target' drill to help golfers master the release through impact. Since the club moves too fast to see at the moment of contact, Wydra teaches players to check their clubface at a 45-degree angle post-impact. This technique ensures the hands and club rotate properly, helping golfers eliminate slices and achieve a consistent draw.
The club moves too fast at impact (often 100+ mph) to consciously feel the face angle.
Check your release at a '45-degree position'—halfway between impact and parallel to the ground in the follow-through.
At this 45-degree check-point, the toe of the club should point directly toward your target.
Practice by 'pressing' the club from address into the target-pointing follow-through position several times before hitting a shot.
Proper execution starts the ball on the correct line and produces a controlled hook/draw.
