Golf Instuction San Diego Mike Wydra - Down Swing - Impact Fix Golf Drill
NCAA Hall of Fame coach Mike Wydra demonstrates the 'Impact Fix' drill to help golfers master the elusive Ben Hogan impact position. By pre-setting the hips, legs, and lead wrist into their ideal positions at address, players can better internalize the feel of forward shaft lean and proper body rotation during the downswing.
Impact should never be a mirror image of your address position.
At impact, the lead leg should be less bent and the trailing heel should be slightly off the ground.
The lead wrist must be supinated (bowed) with the handle well ahead of the ball to ensure a square clubface and compressed strike.
Starting a practice swing from the 'Impact Fix' position helps the brain recognize the destination of the downswing.
To transition from the fix to the swing, drop the right heel simultaneously as the club starts the backswing.
