Golf Lessons La Jolla - Setup / Address - one ball inside left heel - Mike Wydra
NCAA Hall of Fame coach Mike Wydra demonstrates a universal ball position strategy: placing the ball exactly one ball’s width inside the left heel for every club. By keeping weight distribution 50/50 and only varying stance width, golfers can naturally transition from a descending blow with irons to a sweeping strike with the driver.
Position the ball one ball's width inside your left heel for every club in the bag.
Adjust stance width based on the club: use a narrow 6-inch stance for wedges and a wide 18-inch (shoulder-width) stance for drivers.
Maintain a constant 50/50 weight distribution with your chin centered between your feet at address.
Widening your stance naturally moves your head further behind the ball, creating the optimal sweeping angle of attack for the driver.
Avoid using your favorite iron setup for your driver, as it creates too steep an angle of descent.
