Golf Lessons San Diego Mike Wydra - Keep the Toe up
PGA instructor Mike Wydra explains why soling your golf club flush to the ground at address is a common mistake that leads to poor impact. He demonstrates how centrifugal force and shaft droop cause the hands to rise and the club head to flatten out during the swing. By using the 'Credit Card Test' to ensure the toe is slightly up at address, golfers can achieve a perfectly flush strike at impact.
Never start with the club soling perfectly flush to the ground at address.
Centrifugal force and shaft droop (3-5 degrees) will naturally lower the toe during a fast swing.
The top of the club handle should never be higher than the top of your inseam or crotch.
Use a credit card to check that the toe of your club is slightly off the ground at setup.
Maintain about a fist's width of space between the end of the club and your lead leg.
