NCAA Hall of Fame coach Mike Wydra demonstrates the proper address and 'sweeping' technique for the driver. He explains that while irons should strike the ground after impact, the driver requires a specific setup—including high tee height and lead-heel ball position—to ensure an upward strike for maximum distance and height.

• The driver is the only club in the bag that should not make contact with the ground after impact.
• Tee the ball high enough so that you can see a portion of the ball above the top of the driver head.
• Use your widest stance with the ball positioned specifically off the lead (left) heel.
• Focus your eyes on the back of the ball at address to encourage a 'sweeping' motion rather than a downward strike.
• Correct setup leads to proper launch height and maximum distance.
