Master the Early Extension Drill: Perfect Your Downswing with These Tips!
PGA instructor Peter Knight demonstrates a highly effective wall drill to eliminate early extension. By using a wall for tactile feedback, golfers can learn to maintain proper hip depth and rotation during both the backswing and downswing.
Stand with your backside approximately one hand-width away from a wall.
During the backswing, your right hip should make contact with the wall.
During the downswing and follow-through, your left hip should make contact with the wall.
Maintaining contact with the wall prevents the hips from moving toward the ball (early extension).
This drill focuses on body control and feeling the correct rotation without needing to hit a ball.
