Dr Greg Rose (MyTPI) Reveals the BEST Drill to Fix Late Ground Forces
Dr. Greg Rose of MyTPI and World Long Drive Champion Jason Zuback demonstrate how to fix the common amateur mistake of late ground force production. By utilizing baseball-inspired throwing drills, specialized vertical jumps, and a rotary chair exercise, golfers can learn to time their peak ground reaction forces earlier in the downswing for maximum clubhead speed.
Timing and sequence of ground forces are more important for speed than the total magnitude of force produced.
Peak vertical force should occur much earlier in the downswing than most amateurs realize, often before the arms are parallel to the ground.
The lead leg should extend (not soften) to drive force into the ground, acting as a brake that propels energy up the chain.
Using a rotary chair helps golfers identify if they are pushing from the 'big toe' (late) versus the 'ball of the foot' (correct/early).
Forces should be directed 'back and left' (for right-handers), surfing a line from the right toe to the left heel.
