Dr. Greg Rose and 6X Long Drive Champion Jason Zuback demonstrate how to generate elite speed using Smart2Move force plate technology. They break down the importance of early trail-side loading, maintaining pressure on the instep, and maximizing the 'moment arm' to create massive rotational torque during the downswing.
Elite players reach maximum trail-side pressure (up to 90%) very early in the backswing, typically by the P2 position.
Avoid letting pressure migrate to the lateral border of the trail foot; keeping it on the instep prevents power leaks and 'negative' shin angles.
Torque is a product of force multiplied by the moment arm; you can increase speed by getting stronger or by increasing the distance between your center of mass and the ground reaction force vector.
The transition involves a 'vertical unweighting' (squatting) combined with a hard lateral push to tilt the ground reaction force vector toward the target.
Don't move to the lead side too early; staying back longer helps maintain the moment arm needed for high-speed rotation.
