Just ONE Easy Drill to Fix This Common Swing Fault
In this video, Clay Ballard from Top Speed Golf demonstrates the shirt-button drill to eliminate early extension and stop standing up in the downswing. By feeling like the shirt buttons cover the golf ball through impact, golfers maintain proper spine angle and achieve natural forward shaft lean.
Standing up out of your posture causes hips to move toward the ball and shirt buttons to pull away from it.
Visualize your shirt buttons getting closer to the golf ball and pointing straight down to cover impact.
Push your rear end back toward an imaginary wall as you initiate the downswing to keep your chest low.
Combine lower chest posture with forward shaft lean so the clubhead glides cleanly through turf rather than digging.
