This “Wrong” Chipping Feel Creates Tour-Level Shots
PGA instructor Alex Elliott collaborates with short game specialist Fredrik Lindblom to demonstrate a tour-level 'safe' flop shot setup. By pulling the trail foot back to stall body rotation, golfers can easily release the hands for high-launching shots with clean contact. They also demonstrate a bunker sand-clipping drill to refine low-point control.
Pull your trail foot back slightly at setup to act as a brace, stalling body rotation so your hands can release the clubhead freely.
Open the clubface wide and move the ball forward towards your lead toe to maximize launch height without excessive wrist-set.
Avoid tilting backward on high shots; maintain your spine position and let the open face loft the ball into the air.
Use the bunker clipping drill to practice brushing the sand surface and mastering your clubhead entry point.
