Adam Porzak of Porzak Golf breaks down the fundamental differences between chipping and pitching. He demonstrates how setup variables like ball position and shaft lean dictate trajectory, and teaches a 'pro-level' low spinner technique that combines an open face with a leading handle.
For a chip (low run), play the ball back in the stance with forward shaft lean.
For a pitch (high carry), play the ball forward with the shaft perpendicular to the ground.
Maintain 'connection' by keeping triceps pulled into the pecs and elbows close together throughout the swing.
The 'low tight spinner' is achieved by using a high-shot setup (open face, ball forward) with a low-shot handle-leading swing.
Ensure the low point of the swing is ahead of the ball by keeping your sternum still and centered over the impact zone.
